THE GiSTEM WEEK EXPERIENCE
Where you can leave your mark on the world

GiSTEM.png

GiSTEM Week is an exciting and transformative summer program dedicated to igniting a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and business (B) among young learners. Scheduled in July of each year, this immersive experience is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing students for a future where STEM skills are increasingly vital. GiSTEM Week is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that girls, regardless of background, have the opportunity to explore and excel.

"I went to GiSTEM because they had a lot of opportunities to learn about STEM. They taught us to do things and it's in a really fun way. If I were to be in school, I wouldn't gather as much information as I did here. We also go on field trips to help you understand different STEM things and we had amazing speakers that were really interesting to hear. I would totally do this again next year."

Research

Research is a fundamental component of GiSTEM Week, encouraging participants to delve deeply into their project theme. Participants are guided on how to conduct research, gather data, and analyze results. This hands-on approach helps participants develop critical thinking and analytical skills essential for STEM fields.  This process not only enhances their understanding of STEM concepts but also fosters a spirit of inquiry and discovery, preparing them for future academic and professional research endeavors.

"This experience has been really good. It's really fun! They take us on field trips and the food is really really good. They have speakers that come in every day, and even get speakers on the field tripS. So, you can learn about stuff...I like Victoria [at Dominion Energy] a lot. She was very interesting, and she shared a lot. So that can help me a lot. And their team members are cool. I like all of them. They're really nice, really smart. I think I'm going to get into the business, [but] I might do either science or technology. I think I want to do one of those."
